daily log from a bay area designer. thx for following :)
Portfolio - Vimeo - Last.fm - Flickr
Today is my last day at Vimeo. Starting Monday I will be working at Boxee.
The past three years of my life have been some of the best, making these past two months a difficult time for me. I’m unbelievably proud of Vimeo and how far it has come. The amount of knowledge, friendships, and confidence I have gained is priceless. It seems like only yesterday when Jake, Zach, Andrew and I were making the Vimeo in a tiny room in Tribecca. Vimeo and its team has come a long way since then and is set on a road to success.
I couldn’t be more excited about Boxee. If you don’t know what Boxee is, watch this video. The chance to help bring another awesome idea to fruition is something I can not pass up. Boxee’s potential is bottomless and I absolutely believe that it can change the way we use our TV’s.An extra special thanks to my friends and family for helping me through this difficult decision process. I’ll still be here in NYC and occasionally commuting to Tel Aviv.
I’ll truly miss working with my friends every day at Vimeo. It’s too bad we can’t be friends anymore.
I use Boxee everyday on my Apple TV… I’m excited to see what’s next for Boxee! Good luck Casey, you will be missed @ Vimeo for sure.

Want to stretch your interface design skills? Try sketching something you normally wouldn’t. Instead of thumbnailing a wireframe take a shot at drawing your favorite animation character. Not into animation? Sketch some aspect of anatomy, or perhaps a technical illustration.
Once you’re done look it over. What works and what doesn’t. Compare it to a pro’s version of the same style drawing. What are they doing differently that makes it seem more authentic?
You’ll learn something new about shape, light, color, emotion. Fold this back into your interface design.
I created a 30 second promo video for Gigsby.com to go on their new teaser homepage! Check it out yo!
A new site collecting inspirational quotes from Jason Fried: So, so real. REALER than real.
“I am Jason Fried. I say amazing and thoughtful things that are real. Get real by reading what I say while I’m getting real.”
"The Macintosh uses an experimental pointing device called a ‘mouse’. There is no evidence that people want to use these things. I dont want one of these new fangled devices."

Ego version 1.6
I’m pleased to announce version 1.6 of Ego is now available (iTunes link). This update includes a new widget type: Vimeo!
Vimeo is one of my favorite services. We use it for our sketch show, our short films—pretty much every bit of video we put online. Now I can track our plays, likes and comments, as well as subscribers right inside Ego.
Go get it already why don’t you?
Great widget addition.
